Everything about this post is still accurate. It’s just that I started it a year ago and by the time I finished it, I felt it was too late to post. So, it’s that time of year again and I finally get to share with a few updates!
I’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t had much time to write. I’ve included little snippets of my life lately on my Instagram account, so be sure to follow me there. The month of October has been a busy one at work, but an exciting one as well. I thought I would share all the fun with you here because it was just that good.
Our counseling department started an after school girls running club with a focus on building self-esteem. We meet weekly and discuss issues that affect all girls young and old. Our group is small, which has worked in our favor, and each girl brings their own unique style to the group. They have formed a sisterhood of sorts and support each other through and through. Here’s a pic of them being silly.
Our group recently participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K and it was a fun day for all! The expression on their faces says it all!
This year, our girls participated in our school’s Zombie Run. I wasn’t able to snag a pic of them since I was working the gate, but here are some pics of our zombies!
That evening (2017), we participated in our schools Harvest Festival by decorating an area for Haunted Halls. It was a major success! The kids came up with the idea and they guided us on how to decorate. I think this pic sums up how well we did.
This year, haunted halls became a haunted maze in the gym. Parents even stated it was the best part of the event!
Red Ribbon Week
Across the nation, schools participated in Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week began in 1985. ” By wearing red ribbons and participating in community anti-drug events, young people pledge to live a drug-free lifestyle and pay tribute to DEA Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena.” (Source)
Here’s some pics of our students and teachers dressed up in the various theme days.
What great things are happening in your school this month? Do you celebrate Red Ribbon Week? If so, what activities do you have?
