Currently: June 2017

Hey there Sunshine! Can you believe it’s June already? I’ve been soaking in the sun with my family and friends and enjoying the beginning of summer! I’m joining Anne In Residence and Erin of Love, Fun, and Football for the monthly Currently series! So check out with I’m currently up to and be sure to join in on the link party!

Planning:  To get more stuff done in my personal life.  The end of the year is so busy at work, and I tend to neglect my personal life.  Major no no, I know!  Luckily I have the summer to recuperate and refresh.

Wishing:  Confession time:  Wishing I had followed my dreams of being a nurse.  I would still work with children because they are my passion.  It’s a thought I can’t get out of my mind.

Learning:  More about essential oils.  I am not one to jump on the bandwagon with things without researching it thoroughly for myself.   I also don’t like for people to hound me about making purchases.  I took some time and did some research, attended a few online classes, asked questions here and there, accepted free samples when offered, and after awhile an interest developed.  I purchased a diffuser when I received my samples and shortly after order a sample pack from Young Living.

Browsing (thru):  Marshall’s…where else! Every since it changed locations and opened right at the entrance of my neighborhood, I can’t help but go in and browse the new selections each week.  On Memorial Day, I was browsing through Old Navy and snagged these great deals.  50% off, you can’t beat that!  This summer is all about the tanks!  Source OldNavy.Gap.com

Going:  Crazy trying to balance my budget with all these sales around me.  No, really…I’m going to the beach as soon as I can!  It is summertime and the weather is beautiful! My friend and I made plans to go this week, but the weather had other plans.  Major storms foiled our plans.  It’s always fun hanging out with my friend Jen!  You may remember her from my last post!  We always have fun when we are together! So as soon as the weather is better, we are hitting the beach! In the meantime, enjoy this pic from last year!

    1. It is a dream deferred, but I think I may have to follow it in the near future! And you are so right about the Family First motto. I preached that to the kids since they were born and always remind them! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

  1. Marshall’s is so dangerous! And Home Goods! One of those just opened up down the road from us and it takes all my willpower not to go in there every day 😉 I’m with you on essential oils- I enjoyed doing my research and not feeling pressured while I figured out my thoughts on them. I’ve purchased a few from Doterra and I absolutely love them!

    1. Oh oh, you are in trouble now! That’s why I stay broke…lol! It is exactly 2.5 miles from me. I can walk there…but its too darn hot and I wouldn’t want to get sweat on the goods! After getting my small starter kit, I started looking at some of the products I have purchased in the past (lotions, creams, sugar scrubs, etc..) they all have essential oils in them!

  2. Oh gosh, I’m so addicted to TJ Maxx and Home Goods. So many great deals. And hey, it’s never too late to go back to school and become a nurse! You can always be a PA or something like that too!

I haven’t tried essential oils yet, but I’m very curious about certain ones. I’d like to try one or two and see if they help in the way they are meant to!

    1. The addiction is real! I have thought about going back to school, but don’t have the funds right now. About to start paying on the boys student loans. I don’t think I’ll go back now, but it keeps begging me so I think it may be my second career. I can retire from education in 7 years so we’ll see! I know a great person for you to talk to about essential oils. I met her on the #sitsblogging (which is now #TheSwayLife) chat on twitter and then I started chatting with her on the FB site. She invited me to a Facebook Live chat where she explains everything and what I love about her is how involved she is and how knowledgeable she is. She isn’t pushy. she didn’t even try to get me to buy anything. I was curious and attended her parties and asked questions and (literally) after 2 months decided to give it a try. Let me know if you want her info. I can invite you to one of her FB parties.

  3. Ooh I do love Marshall’s – we don’t have one around here, but the TJ Maxx and Home Goods are enough to get me into trouble from time to time… And I feel you on the busy time of year at work, but here’s hoping we all get some good beach time to balance it out 🙂

  4. It’s never too late to pursue your dream as a nurse! A lot of colleges offer degree programs now meant for working adults. Plus, the nursing program at the college I work at has a lot of students who are choosing nursing as their second career after spending the first part of their professional lives doing something else. Food for thought!! 🙂

    1. It has been haunting me for awhile. In my area, there weren’t any night programs, and I have to work…single mom. Now my boys have graduated college, but we have student loans to repay. The hospital just started a program for working adults that I may look into in the future.

  5. You got the clove I sent you! Yay!! I say, if the nurse route doesn’t leave you alone, research pursing it. I’ve changed my career a few times. I’m confident I have it right now! 😍

    1. Yes, I’ve got it. I went to the site to see how to use it and saw what it mixes well with. I am like all over the place right now. I think I’m getting burned out with counseling.

    1. I love oils, but they can get really pricey. I only have a small starter pack with samples. I looked at many products I use and a lot of them have oils in them.

  7. I’m also trying to get more done over the summer in my personal life! It’s easy to get behind! I also think the program you mentioned for nursing (in the comments) for working adults sounds worth looking into! I hope your weekend is going well!

  8. Thanks for linking up with Royally Waiting! I bet you would have been an amazing nurse! I often wonder what different path I may have taken had I followed some bigger dreams. Not sure I would change the outcome.

  9. I am continuing to live a minimalist lifestyle and loving up. I’m also enjoying this journey of vegan eating. So many new recipes and foods to indulge. Prayerfully preparing for a life change and very excited about it.

Stores like Marshall’s grate my nerves bad:-). I don’t do racks. I prefer shopping in smaller boutique type stores. When I do go into Marshall’s, it’s for a specific thing and then I’m out.

Why can’t you still pursue nursing?
