Thank You Notes

Thank You Notes: Graduation Edition

This post is dedicated to my son, DeAndre.  He just recently graduated from college and his achievement inspired me to write this post.

Thank you Winthrop for providing my son with such a valuable education that he can utilize towards a successful future.

Thank you family for being the supportive unit  you always are.  It takes a village to raise a child, and I am blessed with a very strong, caring, and loving one.   I don’t know where I would be without you in my life.

Thank you Buca di Beppa for providing my family with a place to feast and fellowship.  You were the only place I could get a reservation with and you provided us with such a delectable meal.  This was our first time eating here.  The meals are family-style oriented.  You order a small, and it can accompany up to 3 people, while a large can be shared among 5.  It was like having several Italian dishes prepared for us that we shared amongst ourselves and it was delightful!

Just so you know, we were all hungry, so we dug right in.  The food was so good, we forgot to take pictures until we were all done.

But most of all, Thank you, DeAndre, for putting forth your best effort and achieving this accomplishment for yourself.  We wouldn’t have a graduation to celebrate if you hadn’t put in the work to earn your degree.  I’m proud of you son and can’t wait to see what the future holds for you.

So, am I worried?  Yes!  I worry about you finding the “perfect” job.  I worry about you not  balancing your budget appropriately, because you will be making more money than you ever have before.  I worry about you moving out on your own, and the decisions you will make.  Will you ask me for advise?  Will you take heed to any advise that I offer?  I worry that people may take advantage of you because you have a kind heart and see good in everyone.   I worry about losing my baby. (tear)  But, I know that God is with you and will help you along the way.

Here’s a snippet of graduation provided by Winthrop with the president’s speech.  My son is featured twice.  Once, hugging President Dan Mahony, as he crosses the stage and again near the end holding up his diploma where the grads are seated.  Hope you enjoy!

Did you have a recent grad in your family?  What fun and exciting things are you doing as you prepare for the holidays?

    1. Thanks Leslie! We are truly hoping for a job in his field in the near future. I told him to even look at some internships in his field in the meantime, just to get his feet wet. Take care!

  2. This is so sweet, you have to be such a proud mama. Well, I know you are, I can feel it. 😊 You’ve done good too, mama!! This accomplishment is your son’s but it wouldn’t be without you. Every child needs a strong backbone, support unit, and you’re it, mama.

Kudos to DeAndre!! Wishing you all the best.
